Freshman Information
Entering high school can be intimidating especially when adding Marching Band to your schedule. There is no need to worry. Paris High School Bands successfully acclimate freshman every year. The handbook is a good starting place to learn what to expect from us and what we expect from you. Also refer to the ensemble links as well as the band camp link at the top for more information. If you have questions, just ask. Dr. Pruiett, Mrs. Hendrickson, and the Drum Majors are happy to assist, and want to help you succeed. Welcome to the PHS Band program! |

BAND CAMPS
Band Camps are mandatory for all band students. Freshman & Percussion Camps take place in early June (typically the week before the Shrine Parade). Full band camp is scheduled for the middle of July as well as the two days before the fall semester begins. For those freshman signed up for Beacon Brigade, camps take place over the last, full two weeks of summer break. NEEDS
The band program has a limited supply of instruments for those students that do not own their own. Students that play horn, baritone, tuba, and percussion will be supplied an instrument for marching and pep band season. The PHS Band does not supply lyres, flip folders, or marching sticks. Students are encouraged to purchase their own from the Music Shoppe in Champaign (800) 842-0035. |
UNIFORM FITTING
Students will be fitted for a uniform during Band Camp or after. You will be contacted by a member of the Band Parent Association in order to schedule your fitting. PHS supplies the coat, sash, bibbers, shako and plume. You must purchase marching shoes, black gloves and black socks. We are always in need of parents willing to alter uniforms! |
